Arcadia cruise to Adriatic 2015 - part 2

Wednesday 23 September - Cadiz.

Weather 2/8 cloud, north westerly Force 3, 18.5°C

I was on deck for our arrival at 8am, just as the sun was rising with the promise of a glorious day. Caryll joined me and we had breakfast outdoors, finishing in time to watch Azura arrive at 9am. She turned round at the dock entrance and reversed to her berth.

Took more photos then got ready to go ashore. We had two friends sailing on board Azura and wondered if we would see them ashore. Arcadia was berthed in the container port across from Azura and we had to use shuttle buses to get to the port gate. We wandered through the narrow streets to the market and Cathedral. Squawking parakeets flew overhead.
I was once told the narrow streets were designed to confuse invaders and the birds were introduced by pirates to warn of the same.

We stopped for a cold drink expecting free Wii as advertised on the door, but we told it wasn’t working! I eventually caught the shuttle back to the ship at 1.30, leaving Caryll to do more shopping. I collected a sandwich and sat on deck until sailaway at 6pm. There were shoals of fish and a few jellyfish around our hull. Arcadia left first as we had to turn round. As Azura left there was a big exchange of whistles. I had hoped Azura would leave first and pass us but sadly not.

Went in to change and had Singapore sling in Spinnaker Bar while watching the sun set and listening to cocktail pianist Stuart Anderson - perfect. Dinner, quiz (dire result), bed.
