Arcadia cruise

Well, I made it and I'm back!

My knee stood up pretty well to the rigours of sight-seeing, the only really ouchy moment being when tendering back to the ship from Split, as the tide has receded and it left a big step down into the tender. Fortunately the crew caught me!

I felt the ship was looking good, although there was an issuer with flooding on the last day - something to do with steam pipes being left on in the spa I think - which resulted in buckets everywhere!

I was pleased with the food - always hot and tasty with some interesting offers, and, best of all, the awful petit fours have mostly been replaced with chocolate mints and chcocolate truffle are back on formal nights - Yay! Not only that but our lovely waiter presented us with extras to take back to the cabin.

One big disappointment though was with daytime entertainment. the twice-a-day competitive deck games (quoits and shuffleboard) have been reduced to once a day and a friendly replacing the other one. This not only limits the chance to win stickers but means that very often no-one turns up to the friendly. OK, I wasn't playing at all this cruise but my friend is a fanatic about her quoits and this almost ruined it for her. The entertainment hosts (no longer ent. officers) seem to be running interminable quizzes instead - no less than nine on one day! Now I like a good quiz and usually go to the individual and syndicate but NINE???

Also the speaker didn't change throughout this 17 night cruise and Concorde is a tough subject to stretch out to so many talks on this sea-day heavy itinerary.

However, all in all I enjoyed it immensely and my retrospective blog will follow very shortly.
